Hi, Readers! I have received a few emails asking me if I’m okay and whether I’ll be writing again for the Yoga for Healthy Aging blog. So, I decided that it was time for me to tell you all about how I’m doing and what my plans are.

First of all, I’m absolutely fine! No need to worry about me having health problems or whatever. As I said in my post Summer Vacation, I had decided to take the summer of 2023 off to decide whether I wanted to keep on writing for and editing the Yoga for Healthy Aging blog. I actually started this blog—along with Baxter Bell and Brad Gibson—in 2011. That was 12 years ago! And during that 12-year period, I also wrote two yoga books, Yoga for Healthy Aging and Yoga for Times of Change, as well of hundreds of posts. So by the beginning of last summer, I was definitely starting to feel like I didn’t have that much left to say myself and, to be honest, it was also hard for me to find other writers who wanted to contribute regularly enough to the blog to help me keep it going.

Taking the summer off clarified for me that it was time for me to do something other than writing about yoga. I realized I wanted to return to my creative writing again, something I’ve also focused on periodically over the years. It took a while for me to find a new project, but eventually I had an experience visiting an old Jewish cemetery in Copenhagen that inspired me to dig into some interesting but difficult topics. Because I already had a second blog, Delusiastic!, where I had been sharing fiction/creative non-fiction I was working on before writing Yoga for Times of Change as well as stories I had written in the past, I decided to bring back that blog as a place to share my new work and other things of interest. See Delusiastic! to find out more about my plans, to see what kinds of things I posted on that blog in the past (there are some posts about meditation as well as very short stories, etc.). If you’re interested in signing up for Delusiastic! emails, go to the Subscribe page.

I apologize for taking so long to tell you about my plans. I think stating publicly that I was done with my work on the Yoga for Healthy Aging blog was a commitment that I was finding very difficult to make. It’s actually a bit scary for me to give up this blog. I found it very rewarding over the years to share yoga information, advice, and companionship with you all, and I also loved being able to support the many yoga teachers who contributed to the blog over the years by giving them a platform. It is also a bit scary to return to my creative writing again. I’m much more confident about my abilities as a yoga writer than as a fiction/creative non-fiction writer. But I also don’t want to let that fear stop me from taking advantage of the time I have available now to pursue this different path.

For those of you who miss the information that I and the other YFHA writers shared on this blog, we may still have an occasional post, especially if one of the former writers has something important to share with you. In addition, Beth Gibbs has taken over the Facebook page, so if you’re on Facebook you can get more Yoga for Healthy Aging information there, where she is posting regularly. Here’s a link to the YFHA Facebook page.

Finally, don’t forget that because the blog was running for almost 12 years, and much of that time we were posting five times a week, there is a huge wealth of information here that you can always access. I will continue to pay to maintain the website where the blog lives and to allow the occasional email to people on the email list. Here’s how to find information on the blog.

How to Search the Archives

If you want to read more articles while we’re on our break, we have more than 11 years worth of posts in our archives. So many posts! On so many topics! By so many wonderful writers! There are three ways to explore the archives.

You can simply scroll back through time by using the Next link at the bottom of the page on the website that lists the most recent blog posts. It looks like there are only two pages, but trust me you can keep going all the way back to 2011.

You can also search on any topic you might be interested in or any author’s name by using the Search box  or choose a month from the past, for example, from a time before you started reading the blog, by using the Archives feature. These features are on the website page that lists the most recent blog posts:
