We have two videos today, demonstrating versions 1 and 2 of Supta Padangusthasana, which Baxter likes to call Strap to Foot pose. This is an excellent pose for starting a yoga practice, as it warms up hips and legs. It’s also a good pose to practice after taking a walk, riding a bike, or any activity that makes your legs feel stiff, and for some people, it can help relieve low back pain.
Here is Version 1, with the leg straight up:
Here is Version 2, with the leg out to the side:

I so enjoy your blog. I'd love to see a link for the "looping method" you use for your strap on these poses. Any chance you could add it to this post? Thanks!
Baxter,
I so enjoy your videos and the information contained in them. I suggest this with reverence to to your knowledge, hard work and time. I wanted to point out a possible problem that I see this this video.
Just a little about me. I have been a massage therapist for 16 years and a Yoga teacher for 11 years. I have some knowledge of anatomy and I see you are placing the strap across the arch of the foot. I would like to suggest bring the strap a little more forward onto the BALL of the foot where there are bones to support the strap. I know you are careful not to pull to hard on the strap, but a novice student who does not understand anatomy could pull too hard and do harm to their arch and soft tissues in the foot. I know it is a cost to redo a video, but it would be in good service to your subscribers.
Again, thank you for all your wisdom and insights you share. I use them often in my own life.
Sincerely,
Sharon Friedman
