Using a strap and a block this way in Mountain Pose strengthens both your inner and outer legs and hips. I call it the “Squeeze and Spread Technique.” Make sure to watch the video through once before practicing to make sure you understand how to adjust your props for greatest benefit.

Is this exercise ok for someone who has had 2 anterior hip replacements? Thanks for your reply. Patty Kuda
Patty,
Unfortunately, without information from your surgeon about restrictions to movement, I can not say specifically that it is safe for someone with 2 anterior hip replacement. However, since the legs are not actually moving from the neutral standing position, I suspect that if you were to check with your surgeon, you will likely get the OK to try it. So do that…check in with your doctor first. Baxter
Thanks Baxter. I have a new client. I have instructed him to discuss some poses with him. I love this squeeze and spread. Thanks
